Job Description

Job Summary:


This role involves designing, implementing, and managing a data architecture for a state government or equivalent organization. The Data Architect will be responsible for defining data structures, relationships, and interactions, as well as designing data models and databases to meet business requirements. They will also establish data governance policies, develop data storage strategies, and collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to optimize data flow and accessibility. Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI, GCP) and data lake/data lakehouse architectures is crucial.

Location: Kansas City, Missouri, United States

Responsibilities:

- Design, create, and manage a data architecture, including architectural diagrams.
- Design, implement, and document data models and database structures.
- Design, implement, and document data intake and optimization processes, including data lakes, data houses, big data analysis, and AI for data analysis modeling.
- Ensure data consistency, integrity, and quality by establishing data governance policies and standards.
- Develop and document strategies for data storage, backup, and recovery.
- Collaborate with data engineers and other stakeholders to optimize data flow and accessibility.
- Evaluate and select appropriate data storage technologies and platforms (familiarity with ServiceNow, AWS, OCI, GCP, and Azure is required).
- Consult and assist as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

- 5+ years of experience in data architecture, analysis, reporting, and intelligence.
- Advanced knowledge of building cloud data repositories in various platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI, GCP).
- Advanced knowledge of data lakes, data lakehouses, cloud data warehouses, and hybrid data repositories.
- Advanced knowledge of building end-to-end data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Advanced knowledge of data modeling, database design, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Advanced knowledge of MDM, data cataloging, metadata, and data lineage best practices.
- Experience working in a state government or equivalent organizational level IT environment.


Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Intermediate knowledge in developing and maintaining data governance standards.
- Experience with the state of Missouri data architecture.

Special Considerations:

- Must be on-site 10% (at least 2 days per month) in Jefferson City, Missouri.
- Professional conduct and dress are expected.
- Resumes will be reviewed and approved by the State. Replacement of resources requires State approval.
- Scheduling and location for work must be agreed upon by the SOW Vendor s Project Manager, ITSD Project/Resource Manager, and the Customer Product Owner.
- No out-of-state travel is required.

- Scheduling and location of work will be determined collaboratively with the SOW Vendor s Project Manager, ITSD Project/Resource Manager, and the Customer Product Owner. A minimum of 2 days per month on-site in Jefferson City, Missouri is required.
